WE GIVE THANKS especially for Archbishop of Halifax-Yarmouth Brian Dunn's presence in our gathering. For more than 25 years Chalice has been working in the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, bringing Christ to the poor and the poor to Christ. We are delighted to be accepted by Archbishop Dunn as a Private Catholic Association of laypeople dedicated to serving in the church. Thanks be to God!!

Roy has been a blessing to Chalice for the past several years, serving on the Chalice Inc. (US) Board as the Vice President and most recently Treasurer. Roy worked closely with the US Team and several staff here in Canada. He was a team builder and a leader who will be deeply missed.
Roy’s sons and daughter describe their father with great love, see the following link: www.bostonglobe.com/2021/03/16/metro/plymouth-mass…
I share the following from our Chalice US Team:
Dear Brothers and Sisters of our Chalice Family,
Our Chalice US Team is saddened and shocked by the sudden and tragic loss of our friend and colleague, Roy Sanford, in a hiking accident. Roy was a member of our Chalice US Mission Board, but more than that, he was a trusted advisor, mentor and companion in our efforts together for those we are privileged to serve. Roy was accomplished and respected in his field of business development, and generously shared his many gifts to help develop and grow our US presence and investment. We will miss his generous heart and presence.
Please pray for his wife and children, asking our God of all comfort to be with them now in this moment of great sadness and loss for them. May the Risen Christ embrace Roy in his love and peace forever.

He spent 10+ years as a missionary priest in Champerico, Guatemala. When he returned to Quebec, he started "La Fondation du Père Armand" (aka “FAPAG”) to raise funds to support a nutrition clinic run by the Sisters in Champerico (The Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family). Pere Armand and FAPAG were also instrumental in opening Chalice's Luis Amigo sponsor site there, which is run by the same Capuchin Sisters. As remembered by MaryAnne and Douglas, members of our International Team who knew him well: “He was a kind and good servant” and one “who dedicated his life to help the poor and his efforts have positively so affected many in Guatemala!” May he experience everlasting joy with our Lord Please join us in praying for his soul, and for all who are missing him

Little Mary

Mary is a little miracle though. Apparently she has been smiling and laughing and looking around all week! No crying, no signs of pain…she is in God’s hands, for sure, a little victim soul. Everything happens for a reason, so if the Lord had her released from the hospital, He has her health in His hands.
Thank you for all of your prayers! God bless you all!

About me
Joanne was born in British Columbia and loves recalling the story of her family’s move to Nova Scotia – all 5 in the cab of a bright yellow Ryder truck when she was eight years old. Still relishing road trips, she has now upped her game to the exhilarating roads found in Chalice’s sponsor sites around the world. When she is not frazzled about her next mission trip, she is bragging about spending time with the very best of our Chalice family from Canada and overseas. Joanne’s other love is teaching and learning from the Family Faith Formation program at Good Shepherd Parish in Halifax. -
